Patrick County here: Anyone in need of some nice Barred Rock cockerels (6 weeks old)? I've got someone who'll take them to eat, but if anyone needs a future flock rooster, I'd prefer that. I've got 6 of them at the moment, but I'm thinking of keeping 1, so that still leaves me with 5 extras. I may also have some extra Gold Brabanter pullets. I've got 7, and I haven't decided if I'm going to keep all of them yet.

Like most everyone else, I have handsome cockerels that I'd like to find a home for. I hatched them from Gabbard Farms eggs. My DH and I have hand-raised them, so we are a bit too fond of them to eat or have them eaten.

(We're thinking that we may be better able if they were raised by a broody. Maybe next year.)

Anyhow, in my campaign (

) to find them homes, I've put up a page with their pictures here. I have 2 EE boys (blue, and blue/red), 2 Welsummer, and 2 Speckled Sussex.

Please let me know if you are interested. I'll drive them three or four hours to meet you. Thanks!
(And good luck to everyone else trying to do the same thing!

I love the coloring on your blue/red EE! He's gorgeous! He's 2 of my favorite chickens colors in one fluffy package.

Too bad I'm overrun with roosters, both chicks and adults (well, I really only have 1 extra adult) at the moment. If I needed a new flock rooster, I'd be all over that EE.

Just checking in from Buckingham County. Hi everybody!

Yep, it's that time of year. We're all overrun with little roosters. I had a very roo heavy hatch myself. Four out of five. Wow. Rotten luck! Maybe the newer hatch will be more henny. Too early to tell.

I already know I want to keep a couple of them. Unless they grow up to be jerks, of course. Always happy to eat a mean rooster. But they are so cute right now, it's hard to imagine.

I do have a couple of lavender Orpington boys, if anyone is interested. They were "bonus eggs" that came with an egg order, so I wasn't really planning for them to begin with. I know, nobody forced me to hatch them! I was hoping for a pair, or better yet, girls, but that didn't happen. They are very sweet, and the color is amazing. They'd go great with some black hens...
