It feels cooler today than yesterday. That wind is crazy! The girls came out for just a minute and went right back in. I don't blame them. Tired of being inside myself. Lol.

I hear ya! I'm so ready for warmer weather! I love snow, but not when it's this bloody cold outside! Come on spring!

My Chocolate lab whelped on Thursday...was a nightmare having to take her out to go potty...so afraid she'd push pee and a pup would come out in the single digit temps! Thank God that didn't happen! She gave birth to 7 beautiful babies...2 boy chocolates, 3 girl chocolates, 1 blonde girl, and 1 yellow girl. All healthy, no stillborn babies...not bad for her first litter! Here's some pics:

Oh my goodness! How sweet!!!!! We have two goldens, a black lab, and a Yorkie!
They are precious! We had lab puppies born one year a couple of days before Christmas. It was terribly cold and we had to bring them all in. It was a wonderful mess.

Oh, my, they're just beautiful. Brings back wonderful memories of when my black lab had a litter of 7 a little over 11 years ago. The first born - an old chocolate man with a very gray muzzle - is at my feet now. He's the final surviving member of a great litter.

Congrats on a beautiful set of pups. We ended up keeping two out of the litter as I just couldn't part with them. So glad we did!

And - yes - am very ready for spring. I've been in VA all my life and it's prone to getting nasty in January but I rarely remember such a long stretch of frigid weather.

Nice pups for sure. Most of my chickens have made it through fine, thanks to some help lists on here, and common since on my part. One of my small leghorns will loose most of her comb, and one of my big roos will loose a bit of his, otherwise Mine have made it through okay, so far...

Quote: we had the same thing 3 years ago, just more snow at that time... it lasted from just before Christmas until near the end of January, if I remember. so hopefully this is nearing it's end too. (weather notes in my diary... only way I'd remember this crap. LOL)

Those are healthy looking pups . All my dogs are favorite when I have them but my all time was a male Chocolate lab named "Spike" . he was born on the first day of winter with his 7 other litter mates. He was my constant companion at home and in the field. The Pics brings back great memories . Thanks for posting.

congrats on almost Spring puppies:) I was thinking my chickens better REALLY appreciate that I got out in that wind for them today! Everyone pretty much stayed out of the wind today and even though I told the girls I wouldn't blame them a bit if they didn't give eggs during all this cruddy cold I have been getting 3 from 3 for the past few days. Yesterday and today 2 of the girls (call me crazy if you want but I totally believe this!) seemed to wait until I got to the coop to feed and then return with the unfrozen water before laying eggs for me to collect as if they know the eggs will freeze if not collected when I'm down there! I hope everyone is holding out okay cuz this stuff can't last forever.
-Con decided to go back outside into the coop in the feed shed yesterday. He was panting in the house in the afternoon (wood stove kept it in the upper 70's) so I took him out. He was acting like nothing ever happened with his feet and enjoying himself! I did add a light in the shed since he had been in the warm house at night and needed to adjust. Turns out all the animals appreciate it- 2 cats, 2 dogs and 4 chickens greeted me this morning;-) Not 'house warm' but with the wind blocked, upper ventilation and a bit of extra light it stayed just above freezing in there.
