Virginia

Last year I think I had 60 or 70 birds altogether, 50 were chicks that arrived in October. Right now I have 61. It is so weird how every year what people want changes! One year I can't hatch enough production chicks as they sold oit before the brooder got dirty, the next year the fancy breeds were high sellers then this past year everyone wanted POL pullets. Yeah, I don't seem to get ahead of the curve so I fed chicks for months this year. I can almost bet it all that if I tend chicks all winter for POL pullets come Spring then something else will be wanted. Anyone else see the pattern in yall's area?

I am not sure what your disagreeing about.
I was disagreeing with your statement that sop quality bantam cochins can be found in each approved color variety. unfortunately that is not the case, as some varieties are much rarer than others and the quality is just not there for many of them. there are serious breeders who are working to improve what's out there, but again, for some of the varieties, finding ones that meet SOP is just not going to happen for the average cochin fancier.

One of my Buff Brahma bantam cockerels! He's my favorite... and he's so WIDE! I love how chunky he is. ;-)

And the girls...

Any other fellow virginians discover the wonders of Brahma Bantams? I LOVE THEM. ;-)

Hi guys, I am in farafax but drive to Ashburn every day. Anyone know of a place i can get call duck eggs? Also looking for a place to get feed.

how many of y'all Virginians are going to the fall gilmanor swap? it is less than a month away. what are y'all bringing? I will not be bringing chicks since I only raise them from feb. to june. they don't sell good in the fall and fall chicks are always smaller. will bring some adult pairs of cubalaya, some hens, some pullets. might bring an asil stag and pullet. maybe a rabbit. everything else is already sold and waiting to be shipped. if anyone needs something just pm me

i'll be going but what I have is still up in the air.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to go to Gilmanor this Fall due to family commitments. I will really miss seeing my "chicken friends"! I hope the weather is wonderful and everyone has a good time and great sales.

I hope to be selecting my breeders and ones I intend to show Fall soon. I do have a few extra Swedish flower hen cockerels and some cream legbars that I will be selling. For those interested, I am in northern Loudoun County near Lovettsville.

I am actually thinking of going for the first time. It's a bit of a drive and I have the Maryland Swap the weekend after this one, but I think it is worth it. Does anyone want me to bring anything special?
