Sorry, As for me, Not until March or April. I get eggs from them everyday, I see the Rooster in that run busy everyday, I break the eggs up into their feed and warm milk everyday. Not going to start collecting until mid Feburary for March Hatching.
It is too cold way up here for me to hatch eggs at this time of the year. Look earlier into the evening I posted a few FREE roos if anyone is interested. I am still in the scaling down mode not multiplying mode. I stopped giving eggs away for free and started mixing eggs in with their feed, carrots & apples with warm milk when the weather started turning cold, A couple of months ago. So sorry. Letting you know I do plan on offering barred chicks starting this March. I dont mail eggs or chicks when it is too cold or too hot. That is a loosing battle with heat paks or cold paks. Is it better for you than other wine, from the vinifera (sp) grape? I have tasted some decent wines from eastern N.C. vineyards, lately and I'm thinking of planting some myself. I would rather use the local grape, since that would be easier to grow. Got to get back to drinking wine, better for you than other types of alcohol.

We've got grapes growing on our property. About 8-10 vines(?). The people who originally owned the property were from Italy, and after trying some grapes this fall we determined they were wine making grapes and not eating grapes. We have no desire to make wine and they are taking up valuable real estate so sadly, they have a date with the front end loader. These things are old old, and were never taken care of properly. The looked more like cousin IT than grapes when we bought the place!

How does anyone feel about this?
I am working towards a mid sized Chocolate Orpington for those that want Chocolate Orpingtons. The larger fowl are TOO large and the Bantams are TOO small or so I have heard from others. So I really wanted to create a mid sized for myself. Since Chocolate Orpingtons in themselves are not the color for judging anyways, what does it matter creating a size that may please more chicken people. I realize some of these ENGLISH orpingtons are very large, much larger than Americans are accustomed to and the Bantams do seem small when comparing their sizes from Bantam to LF. So how do you feel about this project. Is it worth my time, money and effort? I dont know. As with all my projects they tend to cost more and take longer than I had anticipated. Just wondering what appeals to others. Maybe bc I am a people pleaser?

Thank you Candy for buying one of my Chocolate Orpington Roos yesterday. I am down to two roos again and things are much happier. Those two boys were very unhappy that the last several Chocolate Orpington Pullets turned into Very young Roos. So Glad I was able to sell them, even at a loss, was better than keeping them.

I bought several of several different breeds at one time. They acted as if they had never been out of a small cage when I got them and did not know to run and hide when a hawk cries. Several died. That was a huge loss. And may be my fault as they were not accustomed to free ranging when I got all 12 of them and I kept them in a run together quarantined and then released to free range. They did not get it and I lost about half of what I bought to coyotes and hawk in a short day. Mine have learned when they hear a hawk cry to run and hide. They stay alive that way. If I locked them all up they would stay alive too. I did have to have mine locked up for a week or two and recently things have been safe.
Neighbors suggested it could have been a pack of wild dogs that went thru as sime had been spotted around that time frame. I found a couple without heads!

I am now looking at selling one of my Chocolate Orpington roos & one or two hens from one of my runs. Anyone Interested? Please pm.
