very strange...I have two wild ducks of unknown species who have flown in and taken up residence in my duck/goose yard...I have never seen anything like them...

bright orange bill, grey head with dark stripe down the back, brown up side and dark under carriage...orange legs and rather long legs...they walk horizontal like the Pekins rather than up right like Runners...smallish...about the size of a Runner...I have no idea what they are and am not so sure they should be hanging with my domestic ducks...

any thoughts...if I can get a picture of them tomorrow I will do so...I can get fairly close before they get nervous...they have been hanging around for several days but never in the yard...they were eating out of the duck dish so I think they may have been hungar motivated...never seen anything like them...

the visitors have been back every morning and evening at feeding time to snag some feed and waltz around with my ducks and geese...I got a picture this a.m. I will try to post...it was as close as I could get to them...my son will be in this week end with a tele photo lens and maybe we can get a better picture of them...they are so pretty...don't quack...kind of whistle and they can fly like a couple of bandits...

btw...my poor birds do not have to sit in that little barrel...we have a duck/goose condo...

another btw...the yellow dog house you see in the shed doorway is serving as a goose nesting box...there are three eggs in there at the moment...

Aren't they cool? I have never seen any like them...I have searched the internet a bit and have not been able to find them...the bills are screamingly bright orange, which you can not see in the little photo...hope they keep coming and I can get a better photo...

OMG!!! I bow before your googling powers!!!! That is who they are...what the heck are they doing here in my yard visiting and dining with my group? ARe they native to N Fl? More research for me...aren't they just the cutest things?

Went and looked further at the site and these guys are not native to this area...Texas Gulf coast and Arizona are their normal hang outs...these guys must have caught an easterly breeze to end up in N Central Florida...
