Does anyone know how long it is safe to give 400iu vit e. I was giving 2 per day but have now dropped down to 1 per day. I have been giving it for almost 8 weeks. She still has symptoms of wry neck when picked up and still has trouble climbing and stepping over things. Also I'm down to giving selenium once a week

Sorry about your chicken. The problem with vitamin E is that it is fat soluble, and it will accumulate in the body if too much is given. 400 mcg per day is usually given for a time, and that is the daily human dosage. So I would not keep giving that much after all this time. It obviously was not caused by a vitamin D deficiency. Have you also been using thiamine or B1 in addition to the E? Wry neck can be a symptom of vitamin E or B 1 deficiency, head injuries, and seen in some diseases that affect the brain, such as Mareks and others. Some seem prone to wry neck by heredity. Have you seen improvement? Selenium is found in cooked egg, sunflower kernels, nuts and seeds, and too much can be harmful.

Yes I am giving b1 also. There has been huge improvement. She wasnt able to eat on her own at first. Just these lingering symptoms. It's almost like a motor skill thing. She is still improving but its just much slower now. For instance last week she could only take a few steps up the ramp and then would stumble backward. Yesterday she went all the way to the top but still cant step over the lip. I was afraid to stop giving the meds because I didnt want her to stop improving.
