What did you do in the garden today?

I will warn if you start from seed like I did it’s very slow growing.
I grew lemongrass one time as an experiment, as one does. About four or five years ago, I bought a few stalks at the Asian market. It was less than $1 for a bundle about the size of a bundle of green scallion onions. Most still had a few roots - again just as scallion onions do. At first I set the bundle on the windowsill in a glass of water to grow out the roots a bit. When they were ready, I popped them into a shady, cool, constantly moist area of ground where they found a home for that summer. I've nothing against Thai food but am not a frequent connoisseur so I'm still working through that one harvest.

Hulled more walnuts and test cracked a few. Left side was cracked and just fingers to remove shell. Right side is from another tree and more work needed to get all the meat out.

Same walnuts or is the RH one a black walnut and the LH an english walnut?

How interesting and sound like it may be the way to go!

Pulled the old butternut squash vines off of the cattle panel and cucumber vines off the arbor. Looks so bare. My oldest gal has had bumble foot all summer. It doesn't bother her, but I tried to remove it earlier this summer and then decided to just leave it after a week of soaking. Yesterday, checking her over realized it had gotten bigger, but still not bothering her. Soaked her today and the whole thing came right out. So glad and relieved. Didn't want to be doing this in the middle of winter here. Treated with betadine and some ointment, wrapped it and told her that her new little shoe will be the envy of the coop! Haha.

I hauled 4 piles of leaves to the garden to spread as mulch over the garlic and multiplier onion beds. Another pile went into the chicken run.

I also dug up four large clumps of daisies to give to a neighbor. They were so big that I had to chop them in half with the shovel to be able to get them out of the ground and into the cart. I did a lot of steps (24K+) and a lot of hauling. I'm tired and might be sore tomorrow. But I bet I'll sleep well tonight!
:thumbsup
