Hi , I have a pekin bantam who the vet diagnosed with VIT A deficiency, she is a fussy eater,
The vet suggested Vitamin a tablets to give her but didn't mention the dosage ,and now i cant get in contact with the vet , does anyone know the limit of vitamin a dosage as i dont want to over dose my girl

What made the vet think that it is a vitamin A deficiency? Most chicken vitamins contain vitamin A. If you are feeding a complete balanced chicken layer feed or all flock feed, that should contain enough. That is best for feeding. If you feed a lot of extras or treats, they can have vitamin or mineral deficiencies. It is better for them to receive vitamins in their food than in a supplement. Here is a good article about vitamin deficiencies:

Hi , the vet was an again specialist from the zoo as the local vets are not confident with poultry, they were from a bird park where they lived on concrete and ate food from a cafe , I now have them in normal chicken food products , they won’t eat like normal chickens and are very fussy , the vet took skin samples and tests and thought said was vitamin A deficient , the others are fine it’s just the one hen , I’m lost for solutions but she is getting better on the vitamin a tablets but I don’t want to overdose her either
