my dad is going to give me a few of his old English game chicks and I was wondering would it be OK to feed them crushed vitamins like calcium and protein mixed with their food a few times a week

If you are going to feed them a formulated chick starter (which really is the best feed for small chicks) they won't need any supplements, like vitamins etc. Unless they are sick and need a boost. If you want to, you can add a splash of ACV (apple cider vinegar) to their drink water for the first 2-3 weeks. (Ratio is 3-5 tablespoons to a gallon water). ACV I found is beneficial to chickens of all ages and in chicks it also helps prevent pasty butt (poo clogging up their vents). Enjoy your chicks!
