This morning I went to check on the chicks and my biggest BO's voices changed. Seemed more....mature. More clucky, not so peepie. I'm sure this is OK, but just wanted to check.

How old are your chicks? Mine are now 8 weeks and many of them are alternately peeping & clucking. I have a BA that started intermittently clucking at about 5 weeks, she was the earliest. Since I'm new to chicks I really couldn't tell you what is 'the norm', but thought I'd share my experiences with this.
I have noticed that when they are more content they 'cluck' and when they are distressed they peep (such as when one gets separated from the flock momentarily).

Hmm. I guess we'll just have to wait until the experts check in; but I would think they could experience voice changes at any time in their development...assuming its as random as human teenager voice changes.
