Exactly If you do not want to register then do not register. If at a later time they want to get controlling about it then deal with that if it happens. As far as I am concerned if I had a small farm I wouldn't register. This is just the beginning of the NAIS movement no one can say how it will turn out yet.

If it "stays" voluntary then it isnt a problem.

However, some STATES have made it mandatory. I believe Illinois is one, and there are others. That is what does not bode well for the small farmer. We have to register each individual animal but large producers do not. How can that be construed as anything but singling out small farms? What would be the purpose of singling us out? I can think of only one. Make it harder for us to do business.

Sorry, that doesn't help in the least.

That's why I simply ask opponents to point to the actual text of the objectional proposal, not simply their interpretation of it, or their fanciful scenarios of what it might lead to. That is what I require to make up my mind on the subject. You should require no less.

Sorry, Wayne, if you can't read what's already been posted and understand what is says, there's no point in me wasting my time trying to educate you. I have better things to do, like fight a set of rules and regulations I vehemently disagree with. You are obviously a willing subject. You think NAIS is a fantastic idea. Go right ahead and support them - but don't try to convince those of us who have read, and do understand, that the costs and loss of liberty entailed therein are any way, shape or form a good idea.
