The fabric I bought for the backing came in 2 pieces. It had been cut and there wasn't and additional 3 yards on the bolt. Unless I go and cut it into 3 lopside backing pieces(I don't have time to try to figure out the math), I'm short by 5inches lengthwise with just the 2 pieces. I'm taking off the outer border so it will be about 50x50 inches. I was thinking about making it into a "quillow" with straps so that she could carry it when they are out. I don't have the same horse appliques but I do have one I can put on there that is a big horseshoe with a horse head in the center.
I got the appliques off eBay! They are really nice!!!
Got the idea for the quilt there too, but I can't find that one. It didn't have the horses like this or the horseshoes. It had a bronc rider being thrown off a horse.
I have all my geckos and squares cut out, went to practice with what stitch I wanted to use on a scrap piece, and I noticed my machine was not sewing right. I tried adjusting all that I could get to, but no change. I called the machine repair shop a hour away and they think the feed dogs have jumped timing and they would have to fit it before it would sew right.
Right now I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to make the swap on time.
