Waffling on where to put Coop on Small Lot

We've decided to go with the retaining wall area. Wasn't even one of our original considerations, but we think it will be a good fit proximity and sunshine wise. It also makes sense to have them near the garden bed.

Do you think we need to bury wire on the retaining wall sides? It's shaped like an "L' already as the concrete comes out from the wall about 8" or more. The other wall is just a large brick wall.

We are thinking through the top of the back taller wall. We want to be able to walk in, so need to add a few feet to it. Probably drill into the concrete and secure some posts with bolts. Other than that, all seems simple. Starting on the coop which will be similar to the hinkle haus style. Thank you for all your help!

So we’ve finished our coop project long ago. Just an update on what we did. We chose the retaining wall location as it gets the most sunlight, drains better and had the most space.

Coop design was based on the Hinkle Hause 4x8’ out of free pallets. The only expenses for it were bolts, one piece of plywood and screws. Friends donated some other things they weren’t planning to use and we had roofing leftover. We built a poop board roost and sloped nesting boxes.

For the run we had the wood expenses and hardware cloth, but my husband works at a lumber store that he got all that super discounted. We slapped together a small coop in one afternoon for some chicks we were brooding. It’s all pretty slick for us. Our only issue is when we get lots of rain it blows into the run so we put up some plastic to help. We are working on an automatic door.
