Wait, what F4 hybrid OE??

F1 is first generation cross. It just keeps going up from there. You don't see or hear F3, F4, etc so much because many don't stick with a project that many years.
F4 usually means better. Depends if the breeder knows what they're doing.
If I want to cross in a color to a certain breed the f1 is bringing in the color. The F2 is usually getting the color set. Then F3, F4 etc is keeping the color and getting back towards the breeds standard. You know looking like the breed should and weeding out unwanted genes.
OE is geared towards dark green eggs. Usually people aren't quite happy with the F1 egg color so they breed on to get them darker.
So in theory F4 is quite a few years in and should be established with egg color they want.
I too would be proud to have taken a project that far and its a way to show buyers that.
To show this isn't just a cross but a project that I've put a lot more into.
On the other hand you can make F1s breed them together for F2 then breed those for F3 and on and on.
If you're not breeding with a goal it just means I've been breeding this set of cross breeds together and each generation together for 4 years.

Ok so loosely I could call my 7YO rooster (Phatass) an F1, he is a cross between a bantam silkie frizzle and a blue ameraucana hen. With this guy I get many feather and egg colors, he is silver splash, pink legs and feet, feathered feet.
And I could call the Red EE over a FBCM hen an F1, dark large hen, olive egg, feathered feet.
The BA/EE would also be an F1, brown egg with a purple hue.
Ok thats enuf girls,,,
Now the cross the F1 Roo with the BA/EE hen, and keep a black rooster (Slick) now 2YO, feathered feet, an F2?
Just hatched are from him (Slick) with the F1 OE, also F2s?
