Waiting for first eggs

My 5 red star pullets are 18 weeks and 4 days of age. Why
do I get impatient when time is getting close? This is my second year with chickens and I remember how exciting finding those first eggs was. I felt like a kid winning an egg hunt event.

C'mon ladies!

I recall having driven 16 hours to visit relatives. I called them fom my cell phone & said my location. What? 15 more
minutes? Never mind. I am tired of driving! I am turning around & heading home! See what I mean by getting impatient as time or a goal is near?

We laughed at my foolishness & I arrived at original destination. I hope the eggs don't turn around & they arrive soon.

I can imagine you trying to stuff your chickens into eggshells. LOL You should be very close. Mine hatched Feb. 11th and i just had one hen that started laying saturday. Depends on development and breed etc. Good Luck

Oh, that wait can be agonizing! I remember the pain of checking several times a day, day after day and finding no eggs. Then when I finally did get one, I must have looked like a cartoon character, doing a double take with my eyes like this

I have two girls that hatched the end of Feb, I really need to get a nest box up!

We are waiting too. Ours are all 19 weeks 3 days old and we go out every couple of hours or so to check. Nothing yet!! I will probably be so excited I'll drop the first egg and have to take a picture of a mess instead.

The wait can be terrible but it will happen.
