Waiting for my turkey eggs to hatch tomorrow!

the turkey chicks and the chicken chicks are doing good together so far!

Awww, so cute! What wattage is your brooder light? Are they always bunched together like that? They may need a little more heat.

I think you could keep them together til the turkeys are significantly bigger than the chickens. then separate them out.

I've never raised turkey, let alone wild turkeys. I think that is such a cool thing you did.

Ok thank you! I put a higher wattage bulb in there earlier. Here is a pic of them now.

I am new to this this is only my 2nd batch of chicks so I need all the help you can give me.

That looks like they're warmer- they're not all clumped around each other now.

Now, we should look at your bedding. That newspaper is kind of slick and can cause splayed leg in chicks, which SUCKS. I would suggest that you get pine shavings as bedding. In the past, I've also used dirt. You'll need to get a bedding that isn't so slipper for them.

You are doing such a great job with them. They are so, so lucky that you found them. I can't wait to see them grow up.

Did you know that baby chickens are called chicks and baby turkeys are called poults? I recently learned this. So interesting!

Wow thanks! We have a paper shredder if that would work? I am trying my best but one of the turkeys will not stop chirping! It keeps walking around the side and going like "cheep cheep cheep" over and over. This worries me because my mom tried to raise baby turkeys before and they did this and then the next morning they were dead

. I am worried but trying my best.

So what ever happened with your poults? Did you keep them or release? Did they all make it? I've got blue slate turkey eggs in my hovabator on lockdown right now and haven't seen any movement or pipping yet. Going greyer by the minute!
