Give me another week and a half and I'll be new to chickens. My daughter's pre-school is currently incubating a dozen eggs and we get to take home the inhabitants. No idea what they are but I spent yesterday constructing a coop because I know that once school gets out for the summer I'll be busy doing other things. Still tossing ideas around for an appropriate brooder. Hopefully they won't be in there too long with the mild temps we get in NH during the summer. Any advice you guys have is very appreciated.

This is sort of how I got started too! Be aware that chicken s are addictive. I went from 3 to 23 in no time at al!!! I kept my babies in my mudroom for a while. The good thing about starting this way is that the timing isn't too bad, the babies are babies in the summer so you can put them out in the coop pretty early. The bad thing, for me was they didn't start to lay until the dead of winter!

But, welcome to the addiction!! If you are looking for coop and brooder ideas there are threads on the coop building thread that have great ideas and advice!
