"There are so many of them. Often, if they get too old or no one wants them or they are ugly or disabled, people kill them or just drop them on the side of the road. They have no respect" Terra growled.

"That's so cruel!" said Moondrop with a growl.

She nodded. "And the humans say that wild wolves are beasts that should be killed, because all they do is kill," she said, licking a roundish scar on her chest.

Moondrop looked and saw Shakira hiding in the bushes in front of her. She was stained with blood.

Shakira saw Moondrop looking at her. Shakira knew Moondrop didn't understand what humans were. Shakira thought of a dog... She walked out on the path, and barked. The human looked down at her, and the other dogs looked at her. She was a dog, just like them. She let out a long whine and panted. The human ran towards her and kicked her. She whined, but didn't retreat. The human then pointed his weapon at her ear and shot her. She felt pain pulse through her ear. She growled, barked one last time, and retreated into the deeper forest. She came back into view in front of Moondrop as a wolf, not a dog. Moondrop was stunned.

"See Moon? That's what they do to their 'dogs' sometimes" Terra said. "Shakira, are you ok?"

Moondrop suddenly yelped. It was a memory. She was looking up. Fire was everywhere, and something was talking. She looked around, terrified. A human was running towards her. It was angry. It took out something sharp. It glinted in the fire. The human jumped on top of her. It took the blade, and yelled. It was about to stab her. As the knife came down, she could feel fear rising in her chest. She was going to die....
