Walking backwards, staggering

Hello,

I rescued a hen, (Red), a few weeks ago, she has been adjusting well and the gash on her back has been healing nicely.

Today, we noticed some peculiar behaviour. when walking about pecking for bugs, Red takes a few stumbly steps backwards and staggers for a brief moment before returning to pecking.

I've raised hens before but am still new, and have never noticed this behaviour. normal?

It sounds like something neurological; what was her injury?

She had a laceration, somewhat deep, under her left wing.
