walking problem

I got 2 chickens 2 days ago and they was very shy and stay inside the coop yesterday. Today I realized that one chicken did not walk - she cant hold the balance and always sit on her but. Another doing ok. Also I realized that tip of her beak are broken. She drink some water, but I did not see her eating.

Can you find antibiotics where you live? It's possible the hen has an infection that is causing the lameness. Compare the legs to the other hen. Are the legs swollen at the joints? Are there any respiratory symptoms, watery eyes, discharge from the beak?

The broken beak may be caused by poor diet. The hen needs protein. Look over both hens. They may also have parasites.

We are in Northridge, California. I did not see any other symptoms - not swollen, no any respiratory symptoms. Can it be due to a relocation? Also at the farm they stay in cage with a lot of chickens and I have a big covered outside area with the chicken coop. The night temperature is low - around 45-50. I will try to keep them inside the house at night. May be it will help. Can it be a stress?

No, stress won't make a hen lame, nor will cool temps. Usually a virus is behind it. Viruses of various kinds infect a flock, then individual chickens suffer lower immune responses, permitting bacteria to attack. I suspect you hen has a form of synovitis, an avian form of arthritis, but in chickens it's caused by bacteria.

If you can find Tylan 50 at your feed store, you can begin treating this hen. It could help if she isn't too far into the infection and permanent damage hasn't already occurred.

The approximate dose is .5ml twice a day for five days. The antibiotic comes in an injectable vial. You can draw it out with a hypodermic syringe, detach the needle and give to the hen orally.

Can she stand up at all? Do you have a photo of her standing?
Do you have other chickens too?

If you can do this without stressing her too much, it would be good to feel her abdomen for bloat or swelling (under the vent/between the legs).
The way that she is sitting in the photo below, I don't think this came on suddenly, it looks like she has adapted somewhat to being like this.

No bloat or swelling , but she sound terrible - like its flue or cold. I am not really familiar with chickens , so do not know how to explain correctly.

This is a pic of how she could stand only for several seconds. Also if I take her out of the crate, she could run inside. She is sit or lay inside, no walking. Also its looks like she make a sound as a cough. I am very afraid she will not making by the morning - I will took her to the vet if cant find any solution to help her during the night

I got this 2 chickens on Tuesday and looks like she was fine , but next day she stay in the coop all day. Today I tried to take them out and find out that she was this problem. I got 4 small chicks yesterday, but they stay in the room under the lamp. I am afraid if this is some virus, it could transfer to my small chicks. I am panic, can't loose any of them.....
