Just got a dog a week ago and was taking her for a walk in the front yard. We flushed a quail. My first thought was darn one of the three coturnix males I have running around in the main run with everyone else managed to get out. New run, so I'm still in the "I sure hope I didn't miss anything stage". Bird looked a little small but but not that small. It flew about 30 yards and landed in some branches I trimmed a week ago. I go look for it, and it is sticking to the cover. So I go and check on my run. Nope, all accounted for. Talked to the neighbor across the street later and out of the blue mentioned he had seen a M/F pair of BW walk up the drive and rest under his wife's car most of the day the day before. Kinda cool. I live next to a large wildlife management area that used to have good populations of BW, but like elsewhere here in FL not so good anymore (between the fire ants the coyotes, and habitat destruction...). I've seen a few on the roads, but first one I've seen on my property. Anyone know how to attract/hold them, I'd love to have a resident covey?

That is so cool!!!! I've only ever seen one wild bobwhite it was a hen with a small line of chicks behind her. They are very rare here... (wild). It's kinda sad, and teh ones that are put here are normally shot to smitherines.

Put some wild bird seed out if you're legally allowed to do so (though it may attract things you dont want around). Those would deffiantly be fun to see just going about their wildness. plant some fruiting and seedy bushes im sure they'd love
