Yeah, I know, but......I was hoping not to have to do that because the current roof is in good shape... luckily not getting chicks until March so I have lots of time for the project if that’s what needs to be done. I think it’s about 7’ tall on the taller side, and about 6’ tall on the shorter side.
ETA: there is a people door on the shorter long side- directly across from those dog holes. Inconvenient if it’s raining, I’m thinking of putting a little gutter type thing on it to divert the runoff.
Roof is in good condition, for a dog house...
.... but not the best size and shape for a chicken coop.
You have a good structure there, but it still needs some additions, adding a large overhanging roof would really be worth the time, trouble, and cost.
Could just add some 1x3 'rafters' and plastic corrugated panels for a roof.
Might also act as a buffer against summers heat on the existing roof.
Think about it.
