Wall vents with no overhang

I was hoping not to have to do that because the current roof is in good shape... luckily not getting chicks until March so I have lots of time for the project if that’s what needs to be done. I think it’s about 7’ tall on the taller side, and about 6’ tall on the shorter side.

ETA: there is a people door on the shorter long side- directly across from those dog holes. Inconvenient if it’s raining, I’m thinking of putting a little gutter type thing on it to divert the runoff.
Yeah, I know, but......
Roof is in good condition, for a dog house...
.... but not the best size and shape for a chicken coop.
You have a good structure there, but it still needs some additions, adding a large overhanging roof would really be worth the time, trouble, and cost.
Could just add some 1x3 'rafters' and plastic corrugated panels for a roof.
Might also act as a buffer against summers heat on the existing roof.
Think about it.

Thought I would give a little update- this is what I ended up coming up with. It’s not perfect, but it was economical and keeps the rain out while letting that good morning light in! (This is the east side)

There is a window like this on each end, the south one always has a 1” gap at the bottom and can be fully opened, the north one (seen here) fits tight.

Added 1”x2” welded wire to the bottom- 36” tall bent so there’s a 12” apron. I attached it with zip ties for ease of installation but I plan on reinforcing it with wire. I also will stake it down, just haven’t gotten the stakes yet! This was MUCH easier than I expected.

Still thinking on what to do about the run door... I’m thinking of using a 1x6 on the inside as a threshold attached to the pipe and then the wire apron attached to that.
