Walmart had pumpkins for $1 each

Mine absolutely loved the tomatoes too ~ I had about 15 tomatoes that I just didn't have the gumption to go out & get before the frost picked them off ( I was hoping they would grow & ripen up a bit more) , so I donated them to the chickens ~ I quickly found out that my ladies LOVE frosty tomatoes!!!

It was the funniest thing in the world ~ the one buff orp ( who is queen of the hill, make no mistake!!) somehow impaled one of those tomatoes on her beak & was racing about the coop gurrgling & chuckling, showing off her prize ~ she looked like a clown with a big ol red nose!! It was sooo funny, we were laughing soo hard, it didn't help matters, they all knew something was up with the humans, but maaann, they wanted those tomatoes too !!!!

And they love any pumpkin or squash guts, any small corn left ont he stalk, even if it's been frosted, heck, they even eat the roots off the dead broccoli & cauliflower plants!!

My animals all go nuts for pumpkins too. The one amish produce stand sold all the pumpkins with no stems for 1.00. My critters thought they hit the lottery.

So, I read this topic this morning and sure enough pumpkin at bargain rates when I shopped today. I came home, proudly bearing 2 good sized supermarket pumpkins, split it with a shovel and stood back.

After the intial curiousity, a few pecks, the ENTIRE Delightful Dozen walked away!

Sigh, usually they love their veggies, what did I do wrong? Do they want it cooked? Would a little pumpkin pie spice help? ummmmmm

Don't feel bad. Mine are the same way. They walked away from the very expensive pie pumpkin I bought them a few weeks ago and went and stole the dog's food instead.
