walnuts and chickens

I just read about acorns and chickens. that's great to know. my chickens will not eat anything thats not good for them
I was wondering about walnuts.
are the husks and nuts harmful to chickens?
I have many trees close to my chicken house, but none have ever made there way down to their pen.
any information will be helpful

I have fed walnuts to chickens just fine, but only shelled ones.

I don't know about being around the husks/trees, sorry!

I have tons in my yard and many fall in the driveway and get ran over. They scurry out to the drive to pick up the pieces of acorns and walnuts. High protein, great oil, freeeeeeeeee. Can't be beat.
