I have decided to finally try to raise some ducks and would like to start with Calls!! I am open to any color BUT white. Does anyone have any eggs available? And would it be safe to ship to Michigan right now?

    Thanks as always [IMG]

I'm not sure if any calls are currently laying? I have a gray call pair, but they aren't in season just yet. Your best bet would probably be to get ducklings or juveniles as calls are very hard to hatch. Also, with the added stress on them of shipping, you might get a 0% hatch rate. I'm in Sandusky, Ohio and would be glad to sell you some ducklings when they hatch. I dont know what city in Michigan you live in but Sandusky is in northern ohio right by lake erie. Cedar Point is in sandusky. Let me know if you are going to make a trip near us and we could maybe work something out. You can see pics of my call ducks on my website www.sprucecreekwaterfowl.webs.com

I was wondering if they had a season?? And I have also heard that they are hard to hatch.

I live on the west side of the state, about 4 hours from the border. And I am very familiar with Sandusky....one of our favorite places to go. We will have to keep in touch and see if we can work something out if I can't find someone close. There is a gentleman (if that's what you want to call him) that sells MANY calls around here but his birds are in atrocious health and those that purchase from him have a long road ahead to rehab them back to health. I don't understand how he still is able to sell what he does.......

    We'll be in touch.....

Anyone else in Michigan have calls?

They have a few eBay auctions going right now that offer call duck eggs. I'm not sure how high fertility would be this time of year, but who knows.

I know they started laying down south in the last 2 weeks. I have a few that are starting to swell so wont be long on mine... but I only offer a limited amount of eggs a year, no more than 1 dozen to 2 dozen of each variety and I only sell a limit of 6 eggs per person thats it I try to hatch all my calls, the only time I offer eggs is when I have no room in the bator!

You should start to see some pop up here and there from now on!
