I get the impression that you can't MAKE a duck go broody, but is there any way to encourage her? Is she more likely to if I don't collect the eggs, but let them pile up? Does it matter if the eggs are all poopy? I've been picking up the eggs every day because we have a couple of resident black snakes that seem to have realized that it's easier to eat eggs than to catch rodents. I suppose I'll need to seal up the cracks that they get it. But is THAT what's preventing them? The snake(s) and lack of stockpiled eggs? Of course if one did become broody, I'd need to somehow seal up the cracks so the snake(s) couldn't come in and eat the ducklings, should they ever hatch.
