Want to free range BUT there's dogs

I would like to fre range some of my chickens. What age should I start letting them out of the pen? And how can I protect them from wandering dog's.

You can't protect free ranging chickens. You always have to accept the possibility of loses when you do. Keep them penned if you don't want to risk losing them.

Electric fencing will deter dogs.

I find a shotgun to deter dogs very well. Folks that own these dogs MUST keep them on their own property! I have the obligation to protect my livestock, including the chickens. Dogs have came in and killed a fully grown full size goat, I was not happy.
