Progress slowly marches on,... for my chicken coop,... but lighting choices must be made soon.

The coop is 7 x 14 feet by outside dimensions. But, there will be an interior "feed room" at the north end, cutting down the actual Chix Condo area to about 7 x 10.5 feet. There will be a "half wall" between the feed room, with upper wall/door to feed room covered with wire to keep good ventilation flowing through the entire coop (It's hot here!).

I want to add an artsy-fartsy light in the main coop area, and have been considering adding a "retro hanging fixture". Not, for the chix totally. Mostly for HotDesertChick, who desires some "aesthetics" within the coop. But... Someday, I also might have to flip on a bright light source for the temporary protection of the birds (flashlights are good, but over-all illumination is better?). I still haven't decided on adding a separate switch for each "side" (Chix Condo, and feed room), so could add separate lights in each area (wire wall in between, except for bottom "varmint area").

The lighting/fixtures I want, has to do more with 'looking good', as opposed to solely varmint detection, or adding day length for layers.

Any suggestions, for nifty lights?

Chiques chicks...

I totally agree that "sometimes simple is better".

I am also willing to repaint, re-wire, but alas, I don't have any time to go to garage sales. And such sales have proven to be a disappointment in my area. Only junk, so far. A good friend who I consider a Garage Sale Pro, also keeps trying to glean from the mirth. Much junk here. Not likely too many options at local garage sales. It would be cool, to have an older fixture though....

Ahhh, eBay is always fun, but frequently overpriced. Sometimes the big box does have interesting things in the ootdoor light section. With the new LED bulbs not creating great it opens up a world of things that can be converted.

Something as simple as a coffee can can become a punched run light

A wild fabric with stiffener added could be used, as well.

I need to get drunk to really come up with wild ideas.

Then there is pintrest......
