I see your point there. My post was directed to the original poster who is from Pennsyvania, Where a coop like mine would be perfect for him. If I was down your way where there is some serious summer heat, I'd definently have the coop WIDE open.

I don't have plans for mine, but it's a simple 8x10, designed for 20 meat guineas (kinda small once I had a sick one in a kennel in there). I started slaughtering them around 13 weeks, which helped make it roomier.
Basically: 4x4s for the bottom and a sand floor. 2x4 support beams to hold the plywood walls. The roof sloped from 8' at the front to 6' at the back, and I made the roof simple and vented. Once the walls were framed I (my uncle really) laid the 2x4 rafters so they were sitting on the wall frame, then he put more plywood on that and some roofing paper. This gave a nearly 4" gap at the top. 1 glass window, 1 big door, and 1 side window (I'll be adding another back window later).
Pic is in that 'my coop is too friggen blue' post...
I made my own plans for my coop. It is 8x8 feet wide. Is 6 feet high on the front and 5 1/2 feet in rear. I only have ten hens but there is room for more. Decided to come up with my own plans after looking at ideas on here. Took ideas from different coops and applied what was right for me. Pics of my coop on my page if interested in looking. Good luck!
