Wanted 3, bought 5, Wife won't let one go.....

I had originally ordered 4. A week before they were scheduled to arrive, I got antsy and went to the feed store and bought three random chicks. Out of all seven, I knew that 3 of them would be female. So I figured at least one or two of the others would be a roo... another one might get sick... and it was all over after that. All seven are female, and I am so incredibly thankful for that!! We're not allowed to have roos in the city and I'm not sure I would have been able to let one go if one had been male. I fell head over heels in love with those chickies! Also, there were so many people on craigslist trying to get rid of their random roos! I got lucky. and that whole chicken math thing everyone's talking about.... that isn't a joke. it's hard to stop. i have to remind myself every day that if i were to get more, i may not be so lucky. but it's just so hard... because i really want more....

We drove from Texas to Washington State with my MOTHER's two hens in a rabit cage next to my horse in a trailer. That was 22 years ago. She later had a total count of 5 roos and 40 hens, 4 ducks.... some adventure. Now i am back at it with 4 of my own - life comes full circle, I suppose.
