I recently ordered 25 Dominique chicks from a breeder, but due to incubator and shipping problems I now only have 3. I would still love to start a flock of them but am weary of shipping chickens again. Does anyone have some Doms, preferably females, you're looking to rehome or sell? I am not looking for hatchery quality birds, but they don't need to be up to the SOP either. It's just that the hatchery birds usually make worse setters and dual purpose birds, traits both important to me. If anyone knows someone in the MidAtlantic area with this breed, please let me know!!

If you don’t end up finding a breeder you could just raise some yourself next year.Chances are you have at least one roo and one hen.You would have to buy an incubator or have a broody hen.

I would definitely prefer to do that, I'm just worried about relying 100% on this plan since I believe I only have one hen (Doms are sex linked).

Also I thought you had 10 babies, what happened to the others? ☹️
They did not make it. I think it was just from really bad stress but I am worried I did something wrong. Although the breeder originally set 25 eggs and said all of them were viable, then lost 10 in the days leading up to hatching, which makes me think there could be a disease/genetic issue? I really don't know.

I have thought about ordering hatching eggs, there's a place called Nantahala Farms I would love to get some from. It's just that I don't want to get an incubator and I'm worried using a broody hen is unpredictable and complicated, because it seems like you have to order the eggs at exactly the right time.
