Wanted in Colorado.....

No results! I give up! I tried over 200 eggs this year and got 7 chicks. Ugh, I am frustrated with that. I also have a spare, so I will keep one just in case I get the bug to incubate again next year. I have aracauna eggs under my broody aracauna hens right now. I am going to see if their hatch rate beats mine!

Count me in for the swap. I am working out with my chicken friends in the morning. I will see what they think, but I know they will be all for it!

Kari, I didn't know we could swap on waterfowljunkies! I have to go back to individual emails on that one.

Nice to see so may Colorado folks here, and jeez what a wealth of information I've found !
I've finally got everything planted in the garden, and it's time to do some work on the coop. I'll definitely keep an eye on who's around and who's hatching

I hope to get 4-6 layers - also for composting and culling a few yearly for meat, but since I'm in the city limits it's gals only I'm afraid.

I've got a question tho: if I get day olds in next week, will they fill in enough to safely be penned outside at ~5weeks (last weekend in July...)?

Wow, lots from CO. I'm kinda new to Colorado, so where is Black Forest? I'm in Longmont. I'll have 50 chicks for sale around the 1st. I got a lot of requests and nobody here had any, so I decided to order some in. Anybody in my area needing chicks let me know

Black Forest is NE of Colorado Springs, east of the intersection of hwy 105 and hwy 83 (at least the area with which I am most familiar) Not sure if it extends into Elbert or not...very pretty country and quite a few farms/ranches/stables as I recall.

Cool, sounds really nice.

I'm getting the rainbow layer assortment from Meyer hatchery, so I'm really not sure what kind of chicks I'll have, but it should be interesting to find out
