I've had luck looking on craigslist last year. Several people offering chicks and hens. Prices were about $7-$25 depending on age and breed. Be careful you don't get scammed.

Thanks so much, it was all a matter of searching a little further, I thought I had found someone and they were all sold out. But one call got me 4 hens, I pick them up tomorrow! Yay!

Did you get all you need so far or will you need more? If so, Do you have any type of coop or draft free barn? These are used to shelter.
