Wanted to share pics of my chickens :)

I snapped a few pictures of my chickens today.

This one (I suspect) is a Buff Orpington Cockerel ... he's a couple days over 4 months old.









These are a couple of my Buff Orpington pullets ...






And this one ... oh, He's a beauty ... New Hampshire Rooster ... He's just under 3 1/2 months old ... oh yeah and yesterday was the first time I've heard him crow! It was soooo cute!



And I think he purposely posed for the next pic ...



I also have 7 "red pullets" and *supposedly* 5 more New Hampshire's .. although I'm beginning to doubt that.

Very healthy looking birds. I think your suspicions about the BO cockerel are 100% correct! Nice looking boy!

Well, I posted that pick on the "What Breed or Gender is This" forum and I'm being told by several that it's a hen ....

We'll just have to wait and see. Wouldn't it be ironic if, out of 19 chicks purchased (12 of them "straight run") only 1 turns out to be a rooster?

I was really really hoping for a BO Roo ... *sighs* Ah well, such is life.

Hmm ... guess that means I'll just have to keep trying!!!

Honestly, I only have one BO pullet (also 4 mos) to compare to, so I am certainly no expert! Mine looks like your 2 "for sure" pullets. The big red comb and wattles and the downward curve to the tail makes your other look like a roo to me, but I'm only going by pictures I've seen. It's really hard to see hackle and saddle feathers on solid color birds, but at 4 mos they should be present. No crowing yet, I presume? Maybe eggs soon?

It's so rare to find someone on this site who actually wants a rooster! Maybe you could put a wanted ad in the buy-sell-trade section, or contact a local breeder or 4H club that might have extra BO roos. I sure would wait a bit though. Don't want to end up with 2!

At any rate, you will have an excellent reason to get more chickens! Although just wanting more is reason enough for me!
