If in Europe, domestic and wild rabbits can interbreed, domestic rabbits stem from European rabbits. Cottontails and Jackrabbits are incompatible with domesticated rabbits. Fudge, now I gotta look it up. I think it has to do with the number of chromosomes, but I don’t remember.

You have ruled out cottontails and jackrabbits but we do have hares also. In specific we have the snowshoe hare. (They are delicious).
