"Bottled at the Spring Source"
Every place with a public water system has a "natural" source, be it a river, reservoir, a rainwater recovery system, a sand pit spring, just some sort of "natural" supply. That "natural" water gets processed - filtered, softened, chemicaled, whatever - to make it safe for human consumption. No matter how much or how little is done to it, it's still naturally sourced. And it's still processed! Public systems (and marketing) cannot legally sell it without conforming to those federal regulations.

Enter the bottled water companies - Some tweak the "product" a bit, just to say it's different, but many simply turn on the tap to fill their holding tanks. They can get away with te=heir labelling and advertising because, when all is said and done, it all came from the "natural" public water source, right? And since Baltimore's water comes from Baltimore's reservoir and Boston's comes from Boston's and Los Angeles' comes from LA's, it's all bottled "At the Spring Source," right?

And the fancy names? I'm sure there's a little town, or a street, or a building called "Alpine" or a trademarked company subsidiary named "Crystal Geyser" affiliated with your bargain bottles.

To sum it up - don't be afraid or embarrassed to buy bottled water when the convenience is needed (like for lunch, or hurricanes & such.) Just know what's behind the advertising. Being a smart consumer plays a huge part in winning the ecological battle - and your own financial one!

Oh - and I learned some of this from an old economics class - but most came from my uncle, who was a food plant inspector (Name brand sugar bags are filled from the same machines that fill the generics!) and from once dating the head of the Maryland sanitation commssion. So yup, it's real!

Thanks!! This is very interesting and useful. My aunt used to work for Frito-Lay and she said the same thing about the generic versus name brand. I’m sure it’s not all of them (most of the dollar store generics taste so bad!!!) but quite a lot it’s the same exact thing! She would say how they would put the same pretzels in or whatever and I was always like

Although honestly this time I wasn’t really paying attention to it being spring water or anything like that, I just thought why pay the same for the little regular size bottles when I could get an entire gallon for the same price. this brand is actually usually more expensive at the “regular” stores.

Although I do usually drink Poland Spring when I get bottles.

I can't really agree with that.
There are plenty of beautiful woman in the world no matter what ones taste is and if someone wants to see nekkidness theres no shortage of that online.
The problem is the new attitude about and no self respect these girls link to their sexuality.
Self image, self worth and self esteem in general is lacking at an all time high with young girls now days and they look to their peers and the outside world to define it for them.
When this kind of crap is all over the place what do you think theyre gonna latch to?
Social media is running and ruining the youth of today and especially with young ladies.
I'll end my rant before it even gets deep.
I'm in too good of a mood to F it up with the nonsense.

Actually, I think we meant the same thing, I just didn't say it as clearly - I'm totally on board with you on that one! With role models like that plastered all over mainstream media ... it's small wonder a lot of today's girls/women are getting mixed (aka all screwed) up.
I know I'm old-fashioned, but I miss the days of boys giggling in a tree house with a magazine pilfered from their Dad's secret stash, but those are long gone. Some call it progress - and a lot of it is ... but that loss of innocence and the commercializing of everything sexual has taken its toll.
And it makes me sad.

They dont want to make us feel better ... they want us to be fooled into thinking that their product is worth the extra money.

In all seriousness though, I don’t really care that much and it’s not like I’ve never eaten TV dinners or microwave popcorn or anything - I used to all the time so if there were effects, I’ve been affected already, but I just try to avoid it when I can now knowing that. But I actually don’t even eat any of that stuff anymore because it makes me really sick.

A lot of "bottled water" comes right out of a tap in Worland, Wyoming. It comes from artesian wells drilled into the Madison formation and is outstanding water.

"Bottled" is not automatically "Bad." It's just often unnecessary. Again - it's all about being an informed consumer - and that's good to know. Thanks!
