Welcome to the wonderful world of chickens.
If you live in the city and like your neighbors you probably don't want roosters. Now the roosters have more personally than the hens. I live on an acre in the city and have a dozen roosters but I have to lock them in the barn every night lest they crow and disturb me and my friends.
The city told me I couldn't have chickens so when they gave me a citation I hired our chicken loving ex Governor and fought the city and had our zoning ordinance ruled vague and ambigious and therefore the judge said my chickens were legal. Over the last 8 months The Historic City of Roswell Georgia has spent over $80,000 trying to get rid of my chickens and had a new amended zoning ordinance but we are still fighting them. The problem is we have strong group of supporters and even our Mayor has chickens infront of his law office on the city square.
If you buy from a local breeder like me most can feather sex them at a few weeks of age to insure you get hens. ll of the extra roosters get fed corn for a while and then permanently go to a place I tell "city folks' is called Freezer Camp.
God Bless America and Little Roosters!
Respectfully,
