Wanting to buy chicks-Update-DH ordered USPS d/t gas $

2mnypets,
Kewanee is about 40 miles from you. There used to be a salebarn in Galesburg we used to go to when we were in college there. I don't know if the salebarn is still up and running there or not. As far as distance for you to come to the Kankakee Swap, you are about 165 miles from here. So it would be a good 2 1/2 - 3 hr. drive for you. We are going to Wolf Lake swap on the 5th (it is on the East side of Indiana) and then we will be back here for the Kankakee Swap on the 6th. Gotta love swappin!!!

OT post here. . . .

I'm going to be in your area probably the end of June/early July. My grandma was born in Kewanee (Henry County) and I want to go and trudge around the old homestead in Bureau County and visit some of the areas in which they lived as well as family still living there. My family lived all throughout central IL (Bureau, Henry, LaSalle, Knox, Warren, Lee, Grundy, Kankakee, and Fulton Counties). I'm sure I'm going to be looking at all that space and wishing I had some of it! I'll wave at ya'all!

Edited to add: I'll trade you the gas prices. I paid $3.17 yesterday here in So. Cal.

Well well mothergoose, I used to go to BHE from 1984-1986. Small world!

I am planning on going to Galesburg in August and occasionally we bring bird there for people to pick up.

I got a friend south of me who got Welsummers for five dollars a piece and RI Reds and Pasochicken might have some assorted chicks..no idea of their prices yet.

Let me know what you are interested and I will see what I can do on my end.

2many i have a couple of bottle feed baby pygmy goats that will follow you anywhere you go. they are 2 months old now i would sell them for $50 each or both for $90

Wow. I got my babies today too. I paid $15 for each of them. Both were bottle babies, and are super friendly. I talked to the family here that breeds them and they would sell babies to you for $20/each depending on the breed or kind you want. Purebreds are a little more, the crosses like I got are a little cheaper ($15ish).

4h you got a real good deal. these are fullblooded and registered.hope you like your goats as much as i like mine

Love your gas prices! We are paying 3.49 for a gallon in the Seattle, WAashington area!! :o

I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to all that responded. My husband decided that we are going to order chicks and pick up at the post office because of the increasing gas prices. As it stands right now I am heading out the door to get gas before the next price increase. Currently at $3.06 our friend (who works at the gas station) just called and said to get down there NOW because they are getting ready to go up another 40 cents. Maybe when and if prices go down, I can meet up with some of the wonderful people who have sent me emails and responded to this thread.

Thanks again everyone. You've made us really feel at home in this forum!
