Last year My neighbors dog got loose, and Scared all of my birds. I had to wait till dark to do a proper head count, once I was able to count all my birds I noticed that one of my girls was missing. Sandy my Buff Rock was no where to be found. I was devastated. I grabbed a Flashlight and scoured the area. I ept looking for her all through the next day. After 3 days I gave up all hope.
11 Days after the incident, i was working outside, and I kept hearing a weird noise. It was coming from the wood stacks we have behind our house. So thinking we had another woodchuck in there, I went and looked to see where it was. So I strated looking in between all the piles. I got to the middle one, and saw something orange, so looked closer, and there stuck between two piles of wood, was my Buff Rock Sandy!! I couldnt believe it! at first i thought she was dead, as I couldnt see her move. I began moving the wood, and was finally able to reach in and grab her. And she immediately began clucking!! I was exstatic!!
I checked her completly over, and besides having a small scrape on the top of her head,a nd being dehydrated she was just fine. So I took her in the house, set up a nice area for her, and gave her water and food, and took care of her booboo. The next day, she was very perky, and just talking away to me! So I decided to place her back outside, with everyone else. I kept an eye put just incase anyone tried to give her a hard time. But to my amazement everyone came over and greted her, and they all seemed so excited to see her!
Her Mate, my Buff Rock Roo Ron was just beside himslef, and was very protective of her, and refused to leave her side. He seemed so happy to have her back, as we all were!
Sandy is My miracle Chicken!!
