Wanting to join goat pen and chicken run. Some questions….

Thank you for comment! Oh yes, I do understand that. I will insure they can’t get into one another’s feed. I have heard of lots of people who keep their chickens and goats together, with certain feeders, and do well, so I was thinking of trying it.

Goats are highly motivated you will figure out the gaps in your set up just like I did

Had a friend lose one of their goats a few days it climbed inside a cattle feeder. Lucky it was empty and the LGD alerted them to it… I also have LGD they tell me if something weird is happening.

Clipping wings doesn't stop flight it just limits how far they can go due to throwing the bird off balance. You give the birds enough to keep themself entertained and depending on the breed they won't want to fly off. My 2nd run is uncovered and only 5 foot tall and my birds never fly over.

Certain breeds I swear just get out because they can and think it’s funny. They remind me of my middle child.

We have one pullet we named Houdini because she is always escaping. She loves to escape the run while DH is in the workshop. Houdini will go into the shop and amble around and jump up on the workbench. When she is tired of exploring, she goes back and gets into the chicken run.
