Wanting to start raising chickens in my backyard

I raised a few chickens and loved it when I lived simi country on six acres. I am a grandmother raising three lovely grandchildren but I have had to move into town. I so miss raising chickens I am considering trying to raise a dozen or so in town. I would like some input regarding this, and the best way to get started.

I think your post ended up under the wrong section???

I would first make sure you know the livestock regulations in your town. Some towns only allow up to 4 or 6 chickens (generally hens only), and some don't allow ANY chickens

It'll be different having to contain your birds, but I'd still want chickens even if I lived in town...
