Im not too sure about that..... from what I have read a ferret is considered an adult at 16 - 18 weeks old. They normally only have 1 litter a season, sometimes 2 if there is a lot of food source. its getting towards winter on this side of the world so im guessing there could be young ones if they had had a second litter.

Oh wow I didn't know there were foxes in Australia. Did they bring those in to take out the rabbits, or na? Maybe they'll go for bears now. Need an apex predator in the mix.

Invasive species are the worst. There really is no 'not kill' recourse for them, if you call in the authorities that's what they are going to do. Might as well cut out the middle man. But people can be ridiculous about these kinds of things. Like with cats here in the US. People who normally care about conservation lose their damn minds if you dare suggest that people should keep cats inside, despite them being responsible for a literal crap ton of bird extinctions. But but! Fluffy likes to roam! I don't give two lamb farts, build that queen a catio and stop letting 'em kill birds.

Foxes were brought into Australia during European settlement when they thought it was a great idea to release them for sport hunting.

The only apex predator we have here are dingoes. Oh and occassionally, DROPBEARs.

Hey..... well let's just say we have caught 2 and have had 3 days of no losses and nothing in traps.... I believe ferrets are very territorial and we could have taken the pair from this territory.... so for now we have fixed the problem

I know dingoes are serious biznez but I can't take them seriously because of all the jokes about dingoes eating babies.

This unfortunately causes them to go mad and there have been reports of them diving down (DROP) onto unwary humans going bushwalking in the forest (bush). They jump down from Eucalyptus trees and tear and bite the faces of travelers.. causing severe physical trauma. Hence the term DROPBEAR. Once they reach that stage, they're quite incurable and have to be put down but it's difficult to even catch them because of their violent and aggressive behavior.
