And rats will do the same thing. Happened here, three nice bantam pullets decapitated.
Mary
one is destined to be taxidermied the other may be taxidermied or nailed to the coop in warning to all other invaders! Will you make anything with the pelt?
The Chickens killed in this instance were almost full grown Leghorns! there was a buffet of bantams 4m away and they weren't touchedSo how big should your pullets be before you can safely keep them in the coop with the other adult chooks if it's not rat-proofed?

Yeah I was blimmin surprised as well they aimed for the largest birds ......... more bang for their buck? I dunno... ferrets arent scared of much!WTF! (Sorry for my French!) Nasty! Maybe they're really hungry and it was easier to get the Leggies due to various reasons. Sorry for your lost. I'm in Australia and I'm glad my chooks are still alive. Bloody rats everywhere though. They've even gone into my nursery and pissed and pooed everywhere! Disgusting!

I have a cool video of the thing barking/screeching at me but it wont upload
It was screeching at me when ever I even got close to the cage........... it didnt make any noise at all when it went for its swim.Ewwww!! Grose thanks but you can watch that video yourself. Maybe when you're feeling really down you can watch the part about you drowning the bastards. Sorry that's really sadistic! They look so cute but when they're killing your pet chooks, it's a different thing altogether.
Thinking of installing rodent netting then? More may come!
Full of spit and vinegar. Yeesh. It was screeching at me when ever I even got close to the cage........... it didnt make any noise at all when it went for its swim.
It was charging the cage trying to get my hands
