For coons, believe it or not, I have had the best luck with Honeybuns. I do nuisance trapping for a side business, and they work real well for me, and usually dont attract possums or cats.

So sorry about your chickens. Yes, honey buns do work... and so does a slice of bread with honey on it. Good luck. Post those trophy pics when you get it!!
A friend of mine who does a ton of hunting and trapping says that marshmallows work really well for raccoons. He has a "hand trap" - that is designed just for raccoons. The animal needs to have a "thumb" - sticks their hand in to get the marshmallow - and has to actually grab it - then the trap closes around their hand. I personally would use the have-a-heart type traps, but hey, to each their own.
