War on drugs in backyard-IN THE COUNTRY!!!what is the world coming to?

Yea I agree and so does hubby. He wants to buy one. I gently reminded ummm the youngest is in school this year dear and we have 4 sets of supplies, and clothes, and bills and he ever so abruptly interrupts me and says "I don't care". We get by...barely make the bills and sometimes have to rob peter to pay paul. We have four kids and do good to provide extras here and there so a 400.00 weapon purchase is a big deal but I guess I am going to have to bite my tongue and let it happen. So I can see it now the drugged up psycho neighbor comes over threatening or trying harm or God knows what and I shoot him in the leg. They would be here in 5 minutes not 45 and arrest me and put me under the jail and probably look for drugs lol lol lol lol. Have to find humor or I will go nuts.

Well, I know around here something along those lines (and much more) was going on and the sherrif and most the cops were in on it. So that "We can't do anything" is a huge pile of steaming bull ----. Chances are very good that those cops are your neighbor's best customers, and why would they want to spoil that deal? Sorry you have to deal with those losers.

This is what I was thinking, they are related or the cops are getting a kick back? Do they own the house? Find out and if they are renting, find out who owns it and let them know what is going on.

Please before assuming that law enforcement is corrupt and in on it, remember that law enforcments hands are tied by they way the legal system runs. It is getting harder and harder for law enforcement to do their jobs because of the restrictions that have been laid on them. I would suggest a call to the DEA. Dea seems to have a broader ability to take people like this down. I wish you all the best

I agree with call the AG or the DEA. If they were in the house already about the girls and all that stuff was in plain sight or even some of it, then there is the probable cause. Are the little ones back at the house? Sounds like the police are taking a back seat approach for whatever reason. You have to think of your family first. Get on that phone and call everyone, constantly until something is done. This is why our country has the drug problems it has.

If the law truly smelled meth cooking when they went their then the EPA or state environmental agency should be called in being as most times the EPA will deem it a toxic site and it will have to be "cleaned up". Mention that there are small kids there, too...let the EPA contact DHR. As someone mentioned, if they rent the property then the landlord could be contacted to let them know about the "clean up"liability. And don't forget the media...call a state newspaper (I'm not so sure that I'd fool with the local one).

If a government "phone answerer" brushes you off then let them know that you'll be going over their head if you have to...sometimes this makes them take note, sometimes it doesn't...get their name.

In the defense of the local LEOs, many times it is the DA that dictates what the LEOs define as a prosecutable case. Many times now solid video evidence is required before the DA will go to the judge for a warrant. Sad thing is that after arrests are made the DA will often times work out a plea bargain with the defendants...basically a slap on the hand. It saves the DA time and effort to get a plea.

A few years ago there were 6 people in a family murdered here in south Alabama. One person was convicted and sentenced to life by the jury. The judged overruled the verdict and sentenced the defendant to death. What isn't so widely known is that the defendant's girlfriend was with him for several days after the murders while he was on the run. She was also a daughter, granddaughter, niece, aunt of the victims. The defendant and his girlfriend were involved with drugs...the dead family was a good, hardworking family. Apparently the murders happened with no resistance and a couple of the victims were killed after the defendant waited for the school bus to let them off. One was killed while fixing supper another killed while feeding the hogs. The girlfriend was there during the murders, probably had a chance to warn her family members, she had ample opportunities to escape from him (if she wanted to)...but for her testimony she was given immunity. The DA basically stated that they "didn't have a case without her testimony". Most DAs are *not* "Law and Order" models.

Best wishes,
Ed

I'd be contacting the DA directly if that's the response I was given to assault and drug charges. There is something VERY wrong with an officer saying that... either they are lazy and don't want to bother with the pesky paperwork... OR they know all about it and don't want their supply or cash cow being caught.

Just confirms what I always thought: the "war on drugs" is a sham for money, if the money spent on the war on drugs was actually effective, then a whole lot of people on the tax payroll would be out of work------and what politician ever eliminated their own job?

Rather than take it in a political direction.........

Start documenting everything. Get a notebook from the school supplies and write down everything that has happened and then start making daily entries. Names, plate numbers, conversations, everything. Documentation is very important.

And start calling every single official at ANY level. Every day. Become the squeaking wheel. Be very polite and very persistent. Be prepared to defend your own credibility. Make sure you don't have any skeletons rattling in your own closet. Be prepared to speak to the press.

Protect yourself and your family. Contact the property owner, but carefully and politely. They may be family.

Mostly, make lots of polite, rational noise, document every single thing. I wish you the best, be safe.

An old trick is to call from a pay phone about once a week and report shots fired at that address. The response is usually quite different.

You can get a good handgun for under $400, probably around $150. Check with one of your local gunshops and ask them if they will do a transfer. J&G online used to have a PA63 a Russian copy of a PPK. It uses a more potent round than the PPK and is available cheap online. I bought mine as a back up years ago for around $79 from J&G. The gun is reliable but it is light and kicks hard, use only hardball ammo in it as that is what it is designed for. A nylon hip holster will only cost around $20.

Well I tried to find a site selling the PA 63 and it appears the supply run out. But there are other good deals on surplus handguns out there. J&G does have the steal frame makarov for $249 though.
