We call the Warminster township and we were told to get in touch with animal control. he said with everyone trying to go organic and such that they want the law changed so people can have a few chickens. Five chickens obviously no rooster should not be a big deal. People have Ducks in Warminster hiw is that different.Welcome to BYC! My husbands family lives in warminster lol! Is the WW still there (Warminster West). It could be a tough battle with the township (they seem to have restrictions on everything) but if you really want chickens it couldnt hurt to try. Good Luck.
Hopefully that's getting changed. People own Ducks in the area. Besides I rather have chickens next door to me than the barking dog we have.I am new to the forum and so far it's a pretty cool site.
I have checked with the Warminster, PA township folks and they said that I would need 10 acres of land per chicken I want to raise. I have 1/2 acre of property and want to have 2-3 hens for pets/eggs. I have 3 kids and they don't require 1/2oth of 10 acres each! It's obviously made to restrict us from owning hens. I would build a nice coop/pen and would not let them run the yard. I can't see what the issue is.
Any similar situations?
Thanks!
I looked through Warminster regulations, and 10 acres rule applies to livestock, ducks and turkeys. Chicken regulations: parcel less than one acre may have a max of 4 chickens.I am new to the forum and so far it's a pretty cool site.
