Yeah, defiantly hawk. Hawks don't eat intestines, canids and other ground predators do. I'm sorry for your loss, I would post a sad face, but I can't figure out how to. :-(

and skunks and house cat or dog or coon and the list goes on and on that dont eat the intestines
the intestines carries the waste or food that did not digest and that has a very foul taste
i have even seen the nasty possum will pass on the guts
about all animals will eat the heart, liver, lungs and stomach and leave the intestines to the side

All those animals eat the intestines, including hawks. They may not do it every time but they do at least occasionally.
ok what ever
i can sit here and argue with you all day till they lock the thread or ban us from the site
its funny how people will alway say a hawk did it without out looking for other clues or even think that it might even be your own cat or dog done it
poeple alway blame a hawk
when and till yall spend as much time with raptor as i have then you will learn from them and say wow how wrong i have been all these years about them

I have a little experience with raptors myself and can state based on observation they will consume entrails. I am beginning to question your stated experience with raptors since it so different from mine.

I think it is a bird of prey, hawk, eagle, falcon, whatever ya got out there.

The neck was eaten around, and hawks can leave a mess of feathers around their kill. Not much of him was eaten, so that is another clue: hawks don't have very large stomachs, so they often kill an animal, and waste a lot of it. The puncture marks suggest that a bird of prey may have either landed on him, or grabbed him and carried him a short distance.

Hope this helps. So sorry for your loss.
