Probably the changing angle of the sun with the changing seasons caught the mirror in a way that it hadn't been before.
EXACTLY my thought, too (are we twins in another life?)
It is 6 months from April so it would have happened in April if you had the mirror in the same place. You can try placing a shield over the top of the mirror… or move it, but in its present location you have defined the time of year and location of concentrated light, so I would consider the shield and eliminate the guess work in choosing a new location.
