Warning signs before crowing begins?

Is there anything that comes before crowing that would indicate that they are going to start full blown crowing soon? I have a 9 week cockerel and I was hoping to see his feathering come in more as he looks like he will be a beautiful roo, but I can't really risk him suddenly starting to crow out of no where. He still cheeps like a chick. Will he start crowing out of the blue and wake the neighbourhood up at 4am one morning, or will I get a bit of a warning before he goes full cock-a -doodle-doo?

It is very likely that he'll make raspy, wonky crows, mime kind of sound like they're choking. Is there a specific reason you don't want to be taken off guard by the crowing?

He's starting to get saddle and hackles already so it definitely will be a while before they are fully in but it's close!

I am in a city where we aren't allowed chickens, period. So a rooster is a dead give away. Gotta keep them stealthy

Then give the cockerel away from now, no need to form attachments when you know he can't stay. Honestly though, a loud hen, or a group of 'em (or any hen really) I've found can be louder, more annoying, and for way longer than a rooster

Or in general. 2 of my hens sing the egg song for 20 minutes straight. Unless they get the others to join in on the chorus, then it's a solid half hour.

Hens are so noisy!! Mine "squakkkk squakkkk squakkkkkkkkkkkkkkk" when i pull into the drive from work. They also sing the egg song straight to the afternoon....
